This marks only the third time a reigning monarch has opened Canada’s Parliament, with Queen Elizabeth II doing so in 1957 and 1977.

“Since the Second World War, our world has never been more dangerous and unstable,” he stated, acknowledging the anxiety many Canadians feel about the rapidly changing global landscape.
