Deep Look

The NFL’s 2026 Super Bowl halftime show will get a major injection of Latin energy, as global music phenomenon Bad Bunny is confirmed to headline the event in Santa Clara, California. The announcement came Sunday via the NFL, Apple Music, and Roc Nation, officially placing one of the world’s most streamed artists on football’s biggest stage.

The 31-year-old Puerto Rican artist, born Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, continues to redefine the landscape of pop culture. Known for blending Latin trap, reggaeton, and reggaetón-pop with bold visual aesthetics and powerful stage presence, Bad Bunny becomes the first all-Spanish-language artist to lead a Super Bowl halftime show — a milestone moment in music history.

The show will take place on February 8, 2026, at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, home of the San Francisco 49ers.

In a statement shared with fans, Bad Bunny expressed deep pride in representing Latin culture on such a massive platform.

“What I’m feeling goes beyond myself,” he said. “It’s for those who came before me and ran countless yards so I could come in and score a touchdown. This is for my people, my culture, and our history. Ve y dile a tu abuela, que seremos el HALFTIME SHOW DEL SUPER BOWL.”

A Global Icon With a Cultural Mission

Bad Bunny’s meteoric rise has made him a multi-dimensional artist whose work spans music, film, fashion, and activism. He has earned three Grammy Awards and twelve Latin Grammys, and he leads the 2025 Latin Grammy nominations with twelve nods — surpassing even celebrated producer Édgar Barrera.

In September, Bad Bunny concluded a historic residency in Puerto Rico, drawing more than 500,000 fans and further cementing his legacy in Latin music and culture. His 2022 album Un Verano Sin Ti became the first Spanish-language album to top the Billboard 200 Year-End chart and remains a streaming juggernaut.

He’s also set to host “Saturday Night Live” on October 4, signaling a continued presence in American pop culture heading into Super Bowl season.

Halftime Show Production

The halftime show is being produced by Roc Nation, with music mogul Jay-Z once again involved as a strategic partner. In his statement, Jay-Z highlighted the cultural weight of the moment:

“What Bad Bunny has done and continues to do for Puerto Rico is truly inspiring. We are honored to have him on the world’s biggest stage.”

Jesse Collins, an Emmy-winning producer, will co-executive produce the performance alongside Roc Nation. Hamish Hamilton returns as director, continuing his long-standing collaboration with the NFL on halftime productions.

Jon Barker, the NFL’s Senior Vice President of Global Event Production, emphasized the decision to select Bad Bunny as both strategic and meaningful.

“We know his dynamic performances, creative vision, and deep connection with fans will deliver the kind of unforgettable experience we’ve come to expect from this iconic cultural moment.”

Apple Music, now in its third year as the Super Bowl halftime show sponsor, also praised the selection. Oliver Schusser, Apple’s Vice President of Apple Music and Beats, said:

“His music has not only broken records but has elevated Latin music to the center of pop culture. We are thrilled to once again partner with the NFL and Roc Nation to deliver this historic performance to millions of fans worldwide.”

Building on Halftime Legacy

Bad Bunny’s halftime performance follows a trend of genre-expanding Super Bowl shows. Last year, Kendrick Lamar’s electrifying performance with SZA set the all-time record for Super Bowl halftime viewership with 133.5 million viewers, eclipsing even Michael Jackson’s legendary 1993 show.

This year’s show, however, marks a bold pivot — with a non-English-language artist at the forefront and a performance expected to be rooted in Puerto Rican and Latin American rhythms, language, and culture.

The halftime stage has become one of the most iconic platforms in global entertainment, and Bad Bunny’s presence is expected to resonate far beyond the football field.

More Than Just a Performer

Beyond music, Bad Bunny has also left a mark in Hollywood, with film credits including “Bullet Train” opposite Brad Pitt, and upcoming roles in “Caught Stealing” and “Happy Gilmore 2.” He’s also gained attention in the fashion world, collaborating with major brands like Adidas and Gucci.

A cultural force and a voice for marginalized communities, Bad Bunny’s Super Bowl performance is more than a headline — it’s a historic marker of where music, culture, and sports now intersect.
