PHILADELPHIA (AP) — New York Giants rookie running back Cam Skattebo is facing a significant recovery after suffering a dislocated right ankle during Sunday’s 38-20 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. The 23-year-old standout will undergo surgery Sunday night, marking a devastating turn in what had been a promising first NFL season.
The injury occurred in the second quarter when Skattebo absorbed a punishing hit over the middle during a pass play. As he went down, he immediately slammed his helmet in pain — a visible sign of the seriousness of the injury. Teammates and opponents alike gathered around him as medical staff placed his leg in an air cast. The sight of Skattebo’s foot twisted unnaturally forced many Giants players to turn away.
