Deep Look

FBI Reopens Investigation Into Cocaine Discovered at Biden White House

Washington, D.C.The FBI has officially reopened its investigation into the infamous bag of cocaine discovered in the White House in July 2023. The announcement came via Deputy Director Dan Bongino, who posted on social media platform X on Tuesday morning, stating the case is receiving renewed investigative attention alongside several other high-profile, unresolved incidents.

“Shortly after swearing in, the Director and I evaluated a number of cases of potential public corruption… We made the decision to re-open or push additional resources and investigative attention to these cases,” Bongino wrote.

He named three key cases getting renewed scrutiny:

  • The January 6 D.C. pipe bombing case
  • The leak of the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision
  • The discovery of cocaine at the Biden White House

Bongino confirmed he receives weekly updates and requested the public submit any tips that may assist investigators.

Background: A Scandal Without Closure

The bag of cocaine was discovered on July 2, 2023, in a cubby near the West Wing entrance to the White House—a high-traffic area accessible to staff and authorized visitors. The initial investigation, led by the U.S. Secret Service, concluded with no suspect identified.

An FBI forensic review found no usable fingerprints or viable DNA. The storage locker where the substance was found was reportedly used by many individuals, complicating the investigation.

“The bins are very loaded up… they have hundreds and even thousands of fingerprints,” former President Donald Trump said in an interview. “When they went to look at it, it was absolutely stone cold, wiped dry.”

Trump Suggests Biden Family Connection

In a recent interview with The Spectator, Trump reignited controversy by alleging that either President Joe Biden or his son Hunter could have been responsible for the cocaine.

“Well, either Joe or Hunter,” Trump said. “Could be Joe, too.”

However, both Bidens were confirmed to be at Camp David during the time the cocaine was found, according to the White House.

Renewed Political Interest

The case has continued to draw scrutiny and speculation, particularly from conservative media and politicians, who have criticized the lack of transparency and results from the initial inquiry.

The FBI’s decision to reopen the case reflects growing public interest and pressure for accountability. It also signals a broader initiative under the new leadership to reexamine unresolved matters deemed relevant to public integrity.

The White House has not commented on the FBI’s latest action.

Hunter Biden’s Substance Abuse History

Hunter Biden’s past struggle with substance abuse has often been cited in public discussions about the cocaine incident. In his 2021 memoir Beautiful Things, he described his dependency on crack cocaine. However, during a federal court hearing in 2023, he testified that he had been sober since 2019 following intensive recovery efforts.

Though he was not physically present at the White House when the cocaine was discovered, public discourse continues to tie him to the incident—despite no formal accusations or evidence linking him to the bag.

What’s Next?

The renewed probe places the White House cocaine case back into the national spotlight, now bundled with two other major investigations: the unresolved 2021 pipe bomb incident in Washington, D.C., and the Supreme Court leak surrounding the Dobbs ruling that overturned Roe v. Wade.

With weekly updates to senior leadership, the FBI’s renewed push could signal that previously overlooked leads or witness accounts may yet surface.
