Deep Look: Fox and Wembanyama Lead Spurs Past Warriors for Sixth Straight Win

The San Antonio Spurs carried their late-season momentum into the All-Star break, defeating the Golden State Warriors 126-113 on Wednesday night for their sixth consecutive victory.

De’Aaron Fox scored 27 points, while Victor Wembanyama added 26 in another dominant all-around performance as San Antonio improved to 38-16. The Spurs now sit with the second-best record in the Western Conference — a dramatic turnaround for a franchise that had missed the playoffs the previous six seasons.

Wembanyama’s performance followed his explosive 40-point outing against the Los Angeles Lakers the night before, underscoring his growing impact as one of the league’s most dynamic young stars.

Keldon Johnson chipped in 21 points for San Antonio, providing additional scoring punch as the Spurs continued their surge.

Warriors Struggle Without Curry

The Warriors, playing without injured star Stephen Curry, fell to 29-26 heading into the All-Star break. Curry has been sidelined with a knee injury, and Golden State has dropped three of its last five games without him.

Draymond Green led the Warriors with 17 points, 12 rebounds and eight assists. Moses Moody and De’Anthony Melton also contributed 17 points apiece.

Game Turnaround in Second Half

Golden State appeared in control early, building a 13-point lead before halftime. The Warriors extended their advantage to 16 in the third quarter after opening the half with three consecutive 3-pointers — two from Melton and one from Moody.

But the Spurs responded with a decisive 24-8 run to close the third quarter, tying the game at 94 when Fox drilled a jumper at the buzzer.

San Antonio took command in the fourth. Midway through the period, Wembanyama electrified the crowd with an alley-oop dunk, a blocked shot and a 3-pointer in rapid succession, stretching the lead to double digits. The Spurs maintained control down the stretch to secure their first win over Golden State in three meetings this season.
