Pop Star Katy Perry and Actor Orlando Bloom Split After Six Years Engaged
Deep Look
NEW YORK (AP) — Pop icon Katy Perry and actor Orlando Bloom have ended their relationship, multiple media outlets confirmed Friday.
People and USA Today reported a joint statement from representatives for both stars, explaining the pair:
“have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting” and will continue appearing publicly together with their daughter.
The statement emphasized that raising their child with “love, stability, and mutual respect” remains their top priority.
News of the breakup follows speculation that surfaced when Bloom attended the recent wedding of billionaire Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos alone, while Perry has been busy performing on a world tour.
Representatives for Perry, 40, and Bloom, 48, did not immediately respond to The Associated Press’ request for comment.
Perry and Bloom first became romantically linked in 2016. After a brief split in 2017, they reconciled and became engaged on Valentine’s Day in 2019, as Perry shared during an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live.”
The couple welcomed daughter Daisy Dove Bloom in 2020, with UNICEF announcing the birth on its Instagram page. Both Perry and Bloom serve as goodwill ambassadors for the United Nations agency, which focuses on helping children worldwide.
Bloom, originally from Canterbury, England, shares a son named Flynn, born in 2011, with his former wife, Australian model Miranda Kerr. Daisy is Perry’s only child.
Perry, whose real name is Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, was previously married to comedian Russell Brand. The California-born singer is a 13-time Grammy nominee known for her vibrant pop anthems and blockbuster albums. Her 2010 release “Teenage Dream” produced five No. 1 hits, matching a record held by Michael Jackson’s 1987 album “Bad.”
Bloom rose to fame for his roles as Legolas in “The Lord of the Rings” and “The Hobbit” franchises and as Will Turner in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” films.
