Deep Look: Melania Trump Hosts Global Summit On Children, Education & Technology
First Lady Melania Trump called for greater international cooperation to improve education and technology access for children worldwide as she opened a global summit Tuesday in Washington.
The two-day event, part of her “Fostering the Future Together” initiative, brought together representatives from more than 40 countries along with leaders from major technology companies.
“As people we dream. As leaders we progress. As nations we will build,” Melania Trump said during her opening remarks. “Beginning today, let’s accelerate our new global alliance… to positively impact the progress of our children.”
The initiative, launched during last year’s United Nations General Assembly, represents an expansion of the first lady’s role into broader global issues focused on education, youth development and emerging technologies.
Focus On Education And Technology
Melania Trump encouraged participating nations to hold regional meetings, develop new partnerships and collaborate on programs designed to help young people succeed in a rapidly evolving world.
She also called for research studies, education policy improvements and stronger public-private partnerships to support youth development.
According to the first lady, empowering children will require innovative programs, technology-focused legislation and global collaboration.
“This room is filled with extraordinary human capital,” she told participants gathered in a State Department auditorium. “Harness it to elevate your children, empower your people and accelerate your economies.”
Tech Companies Join Discussion
Representatives from major technology companies including Microsoft, Google and OpenAI attended the summit, reflecting growing attention on how artificial intelligence and emerging technologies affect education and children worldwide.
The participation of tech companies highlights efforts to create partnerships between governments and private industry.
International Participation
Among the attendees were Olena Zelenska, wife of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and Sara Netanyahu, wife of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.
Officials said the summit aims to build a global coalition focused on improving educational access, expanding technology opportunities and supporting youth development initiatives across regions.
The gathering marks one of the first lady’s most significant international initiatives and signals continued efforts to expand global cooperation on children’s education and technology.
