Ralph Lauren Unveils Team USA’s 2026 Winter Olympic Uniforms With Vintage Flair and Timeless Style
NEW YORK — Ralph Lauren pulled back the curtain Thursday on Team USA’s official uniforms for the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan-Cortina, showcasing a blend of classic Americana with modern design and vintage ski-wear inspiration. The outfits — ranging from formal ceremony wear to everyday Olympic Village apparel — continue the brand’s legacy of fusing fashion with patriotism.
For the opening ceremony, American athletes will don red, white, and blue patterned knit sweaters, paired with tailored cream trousers and a matching wool overcoat — a look that evokes elegance and timeless winter sophistication. For the closing ceremony, the look shifts to a more athletic aesthetic, with a graphic puffer jacket inspired by retro ski kits, worn over a bold, color-blocked sweater.
“We’re designing garments that are meant to last — not just physically, but culturally,” said David Lauren, Chief Branding and Innovation Officer at Ralph Lauren. “These uniforms draw on the most cherished elements of our brand and reinterpret them for the world’s biggest sporting stage.”
Team USA Collection Hits Stores
Alongside the ceremonial outfits, Ralph Lauren also launched its Team USA Village Collection, which is now available for public purchase. These garments — which athletes will wear around the Olympic Village — echo the same design language as the ceremony looks. The collection includes knitwear, bomber jackets, hockey jerseys, and other winter staples, all imbued with the red, white, and blue spirit of Team USA.
Each piece reflects Ralph Lauren’s continued dedication to craftsmanship and national pride, while also tapping into retro aesthetics that reference iconic winter sport moments.
Years in the Making
Ralph Lauren’s design team begins working on each Olympic collection roughly two and a half years ahead of the Games. This timeline includes multiple meetings with U.S. athletes to gather input on functionality, style, and cultural relevance.
The brand has been crafting Team USA’s Olympic apparel since 2008, and each collection is carefully curated to resonate not just with athletes but with fans, collectors, and fashion critics alike.
“The Olympics are a moment of global unity and identity, and what our athletes wear matters,” Lauren said. “We know these outfits will be seen, wanted, collected, and remembered.”
Athlete Tradition: Trading Uniforms in the Village
The popularity of Ralph Lauren’s Olympic apparel goes beyond American borders. According to Team USA athletes, the designs often become coveted trading pieces in the Olympic Village.
Para snowboarder Brenna Huckaby and snowboarder Red Gerard shared with the Associated Press that it’s common for athletes to swap jackets or sweaters with peers from other nations if they admire their style. However, parting with a piece of Ralph Lauren’s Team USA gear is no easy decision.
“I rarely trade, because I almost always love every single piece of Team USA stuff,” said Huckaby, who modeled the closing ceremony’s color-blocked sweater, a garment she plans to wear long after the Games are over.
“But every now and then there’s something cool another country has, and then you’re sitting there with all your stuff spread out thinking, ‘OK, what am I willing to part with?’ Honestly, that’s one of the hardest decisions of the Games — aside from the competition.”
Style Meets Symbolism
From the runway to the parade of nations, Ralph Lauren’s Olympic collections are more than just outerwear — they’re cultural statements. They reflect not only American heritage but also the evolution of global fashion and athletic identity.
With the 2026 Olympics just months away, the newly released looks have already generated buzz among both sports fans and fashion lovers. Whether worn on the global stage or collected as iconic memorabilia, Ralph Lauren’s Team USA uniforms once again prove that national pride and style can go hand in hand.
