“Today” show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie announced Tuesday that her family is offering a $1 million reward for information leading to the recovery of her mother, Nancy Guthrie, who has been missing from her Arizona home for more than three weeks.

In an emotional Instagram message, Guthrie said her family continues to hope for her mother’s safe return, even as they confront the painful possibility that she may not be alive.

“She may already be gone,” Guthrie wrote. “She may already have gone home to the Lord that she loves and is dancing in heaven.”

Disappearance and Investigation

Nancy Guthrie, 84, was last seen on Jan. 31 at her residence just outside Tucson, Arizona. She was reported missing the following day. Authorities believe she may have been abducted.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation has joined the investigation, releasing surveillance footage that shows a masked man standing outside Nancy Guthrie’s front door on the night she disappeared. The individual appeared to be wearing gloves and, in some images, a backpack.

Investigators also discovered drops of blood on the front porch, though officials have not publicly detailed the extent of physical evidence collected. Authorities have expressed particular concern about Nancy Guthrie’s well-being because she requires vital daily medication.

The Pima County Sheriff’s Office said several hundred investigators are working on the case. More than 20,000 tips have been submitted so far.

Surveillance Images Spark Questions

The porch camera footage released two weeks after Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance marked a significant development in the investigation. However, it also fueled speculation, particularly regarding variations in the suspect’s clothing across images.

The sheriff’s department acknowledged differences in how the masked individual appeared in released photos — notably whether he was wearing a backpack. Officials cautioned that no date or time stamp is associated with the images, and warned against drawing conclusions about when the photos were taken.

“There is no date or time stamp associated with these images,” the department said in a statement, emphasizing that any claims the pictures were captured on different days are speculative.

Sheriff Chris Nanos previously confirmed that family members — including siblings and spouses — are not considered suspects in the case.

Family’s Plea for Answers

Savannah Guthrie said the reward is intended to encourage anyone with credible information to come forward.

“Someone out there knows something that can bring her home,” she wrote, stressing that her family needs answers regardless of the outcome.

The reward announcement marks a significant escalation in efforts to solve the case, reflecting both the family’s resources and the urgency of the search.

In addition to offering the reward, Guthrie revealed that her family will donate $500,000 to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. She said the contribution is intended to support other families enduring similar uncertainty.

“We are hoping that the attention that has been given to our mom and our family will extend to all the families like ours,” she wrote.

National Attention and Ongoing Efforts

The disappearance has drawn widespread national media coverage, intensifying public scrutiny of the case. Authorities continue to review surveillance footage, analyze forensic evidence, and evaluate thousands of tips from across the country.

Law enforcement agencies have not disclosed whether they have identified a suspect. Officials maintain that the investigation remains active and ongoing.

As days stretch into weeks, Savannah Guthrie’s message underscores both the hope and heartbreak surrounding her mother’s disappearance. With the reward now in place and federal and local authorities working together, her family continues to call on the public for help in bringing Nancy Guthrie home.
