Trump Administration Rebuts Epstein Theories, MAGA Figures React With Disbelief

Deep Look

The MAGA movement was thrown into turmoil Monday after leading officials in the Trump administration declared there was no evidence that convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein blackmailed powerful figures, maintained a secret “client list,” or was murdered in prison.

Why it matters:
The announcement strikes at the heart of a web of conspiracy theories that has persisted for years among Trump supporters, fueled by deep suspicion of government institutions. But even official statements from administration insiders such as FBI Director Kash Patel and Deputy Director Dan Bongino haven’t quelled skepticism among the movement’s most loyal voices.

What they’re saying:
Social media lit up with posts questioning the findings and the credibility of Patel, Bongino, and Attorney General Pam Bondi—all prominent MAGA figures before joining the administration.

“As trusted voices like @FBIDDBongino, @FBIDirectorKash, and @AGPamBondi align with the official story, many are asking: Who’s still willing to demand real answers?” posted LindellTV, led by Trump ally Mike Lindell.

“Assuming this leaked Epstein Files memo is true, then we all know this is a shameful coverup to protect the most heinous elites,” wrote influencer Rogan O’Handley, known as DC Draino.

Context:
Axios first reported Sunday that a Justice Department and FBI memo concluded there was no evidence Epstein was murdered or extorted powerful people. The administration also released security footage showing that no one entered Epstein’s cell in the hours before his death.

The memo further stated that no additional charges would be filed related to Epstein’s activities, and that authorities would not release material in their possession documenting child sexual abuse or information on Epstein’s victims.

Between the lines:
Both Patel and Bongino, now leading figures at the FBI, were vocal in promoting suspicions surrounding Epstein’s 2019 death before joining the Trump administration.
