Deep Look: Trump Urges Naval Coalition to Secure Hormuz Strait

President Donald Trump said Saturday that several countries could soon send naval forces to help secure the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most critical shipping routes for oil and natural gas.

In a post on the social media platform Truth Social, Trump said nations affected by Iran’s attempts to restrict traffic through the strategic waterway may join the United States in deploying warships to the region.

“Many countries, especially those who are affected by Iran’s attempted closure of the Hormuz Strait, will be sending warships, in conjunction with the United States, to keep the strait open and safe,” Trump wrote.

The announcement highlights growing international concern about disruptions to global energy supplies as tensions with Iran escalate.

Strategic Importance of the Strait of Hormuz

The Strait of Hormuz connects the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman and the Arabian Sea. Roughly one-fifth of the world’s oil supply normally passes through the narrow channel, making it one of the most strategically important maritime routes in the global economy.

Any disruption to shipping in the area can quickly affect oil prices, international trade and global energy security.

Trump warned that even if Iran’s military capabilities have been severely damaged, the country could still threaten the waterway through smaller-scale attacks.

He said Iran might attempt to deploy drones, lay naval mines or launch short-range missiles targeting vessels moving through the strait.

Possible International Naval Response

Trump called on several countries that rely heavily on energy shipments from the region to contribute naval forces to a multinational effort to secure the waterway.

Among the nations he mentioned were China, France, Japan, South Korea and the United Kingdom.

According to the president, a coordinated naval presence would help ensure the strait remains open and prevent further disruptions to global shipping.

“In the meantime, the United States will be bombing the shoreline and continually shooting Iranian boats and ships out of the water,” Trump said in the post, emphasizing Washington’s determination to keep the waterway operational.

Israel Targets Iranian Military Facilities

As tensions escalated, Israeli forces announced they had conducted new strikes inside Iran.

The Israel Defense Forces said Saturday that its air force targeted what it described as the primary research facility of the Iranian Space Agency.

According to Israeli officials, the site contained laboratories involved in research related to military satellite development and intelligence gathering capabilities.

The facility was also allegedly connected to systems used to coordinate attacks against targets across the Middle East.

Israeli military officials said additional strikes targeted factories involved in producing air defense systems for Iran’s military.

The operations are part of an ongoing military campaign launched jointly by Israel and the United States earlier this year.

Israel’s Operation Roaring Lion and the U.S. military’s Operation Epic Fury began on February 28 and have now been underway for more than two weeks.

U.S. Offers Reward for Information on Iranian Leaders

At the same time, the U.S. State Department announced a reward of up to $10 million for information related to senior figures in Iran’s leadership.

Through the government’s Rewards for Justice program, officials said they are seeking information about Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of the late Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

The reward also applies to several senior officials linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), including Ali Asghar Hejazi and Ali Larijani.

U.S. officials describe the IRGC as a central element of Iran’s military and intelligence apparatus, responsible for supporting armed groups across the region and conducting operations targeting American interests.

The State Department said the organization has played a major role in Iran’s foreign policy and is involved in large segments of the country’s economy.

Growing Regional Tensions

The developments come as tensions between Iran, the United States and Israel remain high following weeks of military exchanges and strategic strikes.

Security analysts say the situation around the Strait of Hormuz is particularly sensitive because even limited disruptions to shipping could send shockwaves through global energy markets.

With several countries potentially preparing naval deployments, the waterway is increasingly becoming the focal point of the broader geopolitical confrontation in the Middle East.
