Deep Look:

WASHINGTON (Nov. 15, 2025) President Donald Trump unleashed a blistering attack on both Democrats and a growing number of Republicans Friday, accusing them of falling for what he called the “Epstein Hoax” as momentum builds behind a bipartisan bill to release more files related to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein.

Posting on Truth Social, Trump wrote:

“The Democrats are doing everything in their withering power to push the Epstein Hoax again, despite the DOJ releasing 50,000 pages of documents, in order to deflect from all of their bad policies and losses, especially the SHUTDOWN EMBARRASSMENT, where their party is in total disarray, and has no idea what to do.”

He continued by calling some Republican colleagues “soft and foolish” for supporting the bill:

“Some Weak Republicans have fallen into their clutches because they are soft and foolish.”

Trump maintained that Epstein—who died in federal custody in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges—is a political liability for Democrats, not the GOP.

“Epstein was a Democrat. That’s their problem, not ours.”

Bipartisan Momentum in Congress

The president’s remarks come as a bipartisan coalition in the House pushes forward with legislation aimed at forcing the Justice Department to release the full trove of Epstein-related documents. The bill, spearheaded by Rep. Thomas Massie (R-Ky.) and Rep. Ro Khanna (D-Calif.), already has over 218 signatures—enough to trigger a vote.

CNN reports that House GOP leaders are preparing for a significant number of Republicans to support the bill despite Trump’s opposition. The legislation has gained traction in the wake of newly released emails by the House Oversight Committee this week that include Epstein’s communications referencing Trump and several prominent Democrats.

Trump Dodges Media Questions

Although President Trump has been active on social media about the issue, he declined to comment in person when approached by reporters on Thursday during an East Room event at the White House. He walked past shouted questions without responding.

Trump’s online statements suggest he views the Epstein revelations as a strategic attack by Democrats to divert attention from economic issues and the ongoing political fallout from the recent government shutdown.

“They’re desperate to change the subject, and weak Republicans are helping them do it.”

Growing GOP Divide

The controversy is the latest flashpoint between Trump and members of his own party, with notable Republicans such as Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Rep. Lauren Boebert supporting the Epstein file release despite Trump’s warnings. Greene has criticized the administration for prioritizing foreign policy over pressing domestic issues like healthcare and affordability.

Trump has privately urged allies to oppose the file release bill, warning that it could backfire politically. However, some GOP members argue transparency on the Epstein case is essential regardless of political affiliation.

What’s Next

The House is expected to vote on the discharge petition-led bill next week. Whether Trump’s pressure campaign will be enough to stop its passage remains unclear.

If approved, the legislation would require the DOJ and FBI to fully declassify and release all Epstein-related materials, some of which have already sparked national interest by naming politicians, celebrities, and corporate figures.
