WASHINGTON — A Florida airport will soon be renamed after President Donald Trump, as the president simultaneously revealed ambitious plans for a skyscraper presidential library in Miami, highlighting efforts to cement his legacy in the state.
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed legislation Monday authorizing Palm Beach International Airport to be renamed President Donald J. Trump International Airport. The rebranding is scheduled to take effect in July and will apply to the airport located near Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate.
The move represents one of the most prominent public facilities to be named after Trump while he remains in office.
Trump Reveals Skyscraper Library Plans
Later Monday, Trump shared a video on social media unveiling a proposed design for his presidential library. The video featured dramatic renderings of a tall skyscraper rising over the Miami skyline, prominently displaying the “Trump” name.
The digital presentation included:
- A towering glass skyscraper
- A presidential jet displayed in the lobby
- A gold escalator similar to Trump’s 2015 campaign launch
- A replica Oval Office
- Rooftop gardens
- A grand ballroom
- A large gold statue of Trump
The video credited Bermello Ajamil, a Miami-based architectural firm, with designing the project.
Trump posted the video alongside a link to a new website promoting the library. The website currently displays a “coming soon” message and includes a donation link.
The White House did not immediately provide additional details about the project.
Miami Site Donated for Library
Miami Dade College previously donated a nearly 3-acre parcel of land in downtown Miami for the future presidential library. The site has been valued at more than $67 million.
A legal challenge to the land donation was dismissed by a judge in December after opponents argued the college board did not provide adequate public notice.
The ruling cleared the way for development of the library.
Trump’s son, Eric Trump, previously described the project as “one of the most beautiful buildings ever built” and predicted it would become “an icon on the Miami skyline.”
