Giant Gold Trump Statue Becomes New Attraction at Doral Resort
A towering golden statue of President Donald Trump has become the latest attraction — and controversy — at Trump National Doral in Florida.
The 22-foot monument, depicting Trump raising his fist after surviving the assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania, now stands prominently on the golf resort property and has quickly sparked strong reactions online and among visitors.
During the dedication ceremony earlier this month, supporters gathered around the statue while Christian and Jewish clergy offered remarks honoring the president.
Trump himself joined remotely by phone, praising the artwork and saying crowds were already flocking to it for photos.
“Everybody is taking pictures of it,” Trump said during the ceremony. “It really came out beautiful.”
Statue Inspired by Butler Assassination Attempt
The statue recreates the now-famous moment after Trump was struck in the ear during the July 2024 assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania.
In the sculpture:
- Trump’s fist is raised skyward
- He appears defiant and triumphant
- The monument is coated in gold leaf over bronze
Trump later promoted the statue on Truth Social, calling it:
“The Real Deal — GOLD.”
He also predicted the monument would eventually become a “landmark.”
Visitors Offer Mixed Reactions
While some Trump supporters embraced the statue enthusiastically, reactions among golfers and visitors at the resort appeared more varied.
Some guests laughed about it.
Others shrugged it off as part of the larger-than-life Trump brand already visible throughout the resort.
One golfer, Jorge Garcia, joked sarcastically while standing near the statue waiting to buy water.
“It’s amazing,” Garcia said with a smirk. “If I had my own golf course, I would do it myself, but bigger.”
Though he acknowledged people discuss Trump’s ego surrounding the statue, Garcia added:
“He has power. If you have accomplished a lot in your life, you’re entitled to have it.”
Critics Compare Monument to “Golden Calf”
Online criticism intensified after photos of the statue spread across social media.
Some critics compared the monument to the biblical “golden calf,” accusing Trump supporters of elevating the president into a cult-like figure.
Others mocked the size and symbolism of the statue as excessive self-promotion.
Still, many visitors at the resort treated it more as a curiosity than a political flashpoint.
Andrea, a golfer practicing nearby, called the resort’s aesthetic an “acquired taste.”
“It’s his course. It’s his property,” she said.
She added that Trump could put “a piece of bacon on his head” if he wanted because it was his private property.
Trump Branding Dominates the Resort
The statue is only one of many Trump-themed displays throughout Trump National Doral.
Visitors can also find:
- Large portraits of Trump
- Framed magazine covers featuring him
- Trump-branded merchandise
- Golf club headcovers with synthetic blond hair
- Trump sneakers displayed in shadow boxes
The Republican National Committee also recently held meetings inside the Donald J. Trump Grand Ballroom located on the property.
The resort has long served as both a luxury golf destination and a hub for Trump-aligned political gatherings.
Some Golfers See It as Harmless Fun
Many golfers visiting from out of town viewed the statue less as a political symbol and more as entertainment.
A group visiting from Michigan said they specifically wanted to see the statue after spotting it online before their golf trip.
“It’s harmless,” one golfer said.
He argued the monument commemorates a significant moment in Trump’s political career and survival after the assassination attempt.
“At the end of the day, it’s golf,” he added. “It’s meant to be casual and fun.”
Statue Reflects Trump’s Political Image
The gold monument also highlights how Trump continues blending politics, branding and spectacle in ways few modern presidents have attempted.
The raised-fist pose has become central to Trump’s post-assassination political imagery, appearing on:
- Campaign merchandise
- Fundraising ads
- Supporter memorabilia
- Social media graphics
Now, it has become a permanent physical landmark at one of his most recognizable properties.
Whether viewed as tribute, branding exercise or political spectacle, the statue has succeeded in doing one thing Trump values most: drawing attention.
