Deep Look

Giuliani Hospitalized in Critical Condition

Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has been hospitalized and is currently in critical but stable condition, according to his spokesperson.

The update came after Giuliani, 81, recently mentioned feeling unwell during his online broadcast. His spokesperson, Ted Goodman, did not disclose the exact cause of his hospitalization or provide details about how long he has been receiving treatment.

“Mayor Giuliani is a fighter who has faced every challenge in his life with unwavering strength, and he’s fighting with that same level of strength as we speak,” Goodman said. He added that Giuliani “remains in critical but stable condition.”

Recent Signs of Health Concerns

Just days before news of his hospitalization, Giuliani appeared on his online show sounding noticeably hoarse and fatigued.

“My voice is a little under the weather, so I won’t be able to speak as loudly as I usually do, but I’ll get closer to the microphone,” he told viewers.

The comment now appears to have been an early indication of a more serious health issue.

Legacy as ‘America’s Mayor’

Giuliani rose to national prominence during his tenure as mayor of New York City, particularly following the Sept. 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.

His leadership during that crisis earned him widespread recognition and the nickname “America’s mayor.” His time in office remains one of the most defining chapters of his public career.

Political Career and Trump Alliance

After leaving City Hall, Giuliani pursued a presidential bid in 2007 but withdrew after struggling in early primary contests.

He later became a key political ally of Donald Trump, serving as an adviser and personal attorney. Giuliani played a prominent role in Trump’s efforts to challenge the results of the 2020 presidential election.

Trump reacted to Giuliani’s hospitalization with strong support, calling him “a True Warrior, and the Best Mayor in the History of New York City, BY FAR.”

In recent years, Giuliani has faced significant legal challenges tied to his post-election activities.

Two former Georgia election workers won a $148 million defamation judgment against him. The case led to ongoing legal disputes over his assets and financial obligations.

Giuliani ultimately reached a settlement allowing him to retain certain personal belongings while agreeing to specific conditions.

Previous Health Issues

Giuliani has experienced other health setbacks in recent years. In 2025, he was hospitalized following injuries sustained in a car accident in New Hampshire, including a fractured vertebra.

Earlier in his life, he also battled prostate cancer, which led him to withdraw from a U.S. Senate race in 2000.

These past health challenges add context to the current concerns surrounding his condition.

Uncertainty Surrounds Prognosis

At this stage, few details are known about Giuliani’s current condition beyond its seriousness. His spokesperson has not provided a timeline for recovery or additional medical information.

As updates emerge, attention remains focused on the health of one of the most recognizable and polarizing figures in modern American politics.
